Hidi’s the one

Life companion, interest, career, or even perfume, many people spend a lifetime still cannot find their “the one”.

Whatever you are a picky person, all brides need a wedding gown. I know some clients spent a whole year, shop around the wedding shops to find their “the one”.

When Hidi showed me her wedding gown during our trial, I couldn’t wait to say:
“OMG, that’s yours! totally your style!”
Hidi told me that it’s her first wedding gown to put on in the shopping process, then in love at the first sight. She should thanks her wedding gown stylist to pick this for her!

So pity that don’t have much time for photo taking. Hidi, you look sooooo sexy!

Speedy Change in Wedding

Change gowns change styles, main theme of local wedding.

“How long you need for each change?”
A must ask question from bride-to-be.
“15-20 mins” I answered.
“Is it possible to make it faster?”
Another must ask question.

Makeup and styling takes time. Please, don’t squeeze me.
If you have experiences as helper in weddings, 15-20 mins is beyond average.
Do you accept less pretty, less neat, less secure?
Sorry, I don’t. I insist.

Carol doens’t have many gowns, but she expects different styles for each session.
We discussed the hairstyles, makeup, headpieces, flowers for 3 months. We planned to do 6-7 styles for her day.

It was a beautiful day, temperature rasied a bit, rains and clouds gone.
After her first style finished, maybe she loved the style too much, suprisingly, she suggested to keep the style till banquet.
After I put on the first Flower of Magic headpiece, she asked if her can reuse it!
Then same conversation repeated for the 2nd, 3rd… styles.

If your rundown is too tight, one of the trick is to use different color/materials/size/shape headpieces to obtain a differnt image. I had a great demonstration with Carol today, thumb up to Greenfingers:

龍鳳大禮堂

除着社會變遷，進步，世界大同，香港的本地婚禮亦一直轉變中。

原來，若然可以退後一步，一切化繁為簡，反而清新，令一為之一振。

今天是中法聯婚，兩個月前Karlye已與Francois於法國鄉郊與行西式婚禮，回港當然要來一場中式婚宴，中西交流一番。

新娘子為了兩國的親友均能享受晚宴，可謂花盡心思。
選址為本文的題 ﹣ 龍鳳大禮堂。不得不讚新娘子的細心，我向來招待外國朋友，同樣都會選上一樣的地點 ﹣ 大會堂美心，好讓朋友一嘗香港點心外，同時可以感受中國人吃飯時的熱鬧氣氛。

龍鳳大禮堂，近年的婚宴已久遺了。與新派的吊車，南瓜車及空中catwalk舞台相比，是難得的清雅。

席間還安排了舞師，將氣氛推至最高。

桌上裝飾與小禮物也一絲不苟，very Chinese!

造型上，採用了中式辮子加上蘭花，雞冠花等，垂吊的效果冒防中式髮叉效果：

由於晚上穿的是同一件旗疱，特意梳上則髻配另一組鮮花頭飾，凝造不同感覺：
換上西式禮服，自然要配搭簡單的妝容：晚妝造型：

Dream Wedding

Thanks Cynthia and Chor, not only hiring me as your wedding stylist,
also made me feel like a guest to enjoy such a beautiful wedding.

At Mr & Mrs Chor’s wedding, I found gorgeous wedding gown,
beautiful sunshine,
ceremony on green,
elegant makeup and hairstyles,
skillful manicure,
simple rundown,
favourite photographer and videographer…
very close to my dream wedding.

Cynthia, I’m sure we can be good friends and looking forward to our diving trips.

Nothing Fancy

I insist to have communications with bride-to-be before their wedding, all my wedded clients knew, I would keep bugging you if you didn’t reply me. ò_ó

I apprecaite those clients who trust my taste, but each bride has her own character and expectations, although we had trial before, I love to learn you more through your wedding theme, outfits…etc.
So that I can have more preparation, to design different Flower of Magic headpieces, different hairstyles to each of you in your wedding.

Loretta’s first request is “nothing fancy”;
second is “volume fringe”.

So I suggested to change the style of fringe between most different gowns, save more time for photoshooting with guests and enjoy the day;
also to keep our styling theme that day – simple.

Not cold as we expect, beautiful scene and weather!

Wedding at home

This is the first wedding ceremony I participated that held at home.

Esther and Marcus’s wedding ceremony was not held at luxury house with backyard, pool side or roof-top, just their new apartment, a normal size apartment of most couples in Hong Kong.
During the ceremony, over 20 brothers/sisters, photo/video crew, marriage celebrant, friends and relatives… Frankly, it’s quite crowd, but suprisingly, I feel that it’s a very warm wedding. Especially this is a place to start their new life, it means a lot.

Before the wedding, the new couple greets all guests to their dessert cafe - 大飯糖 for lunch, and of course dessert. My thoughtful bride knows I love dessert, then keeps reminding me that “all you can eat” since early morning, whatever Chinese or Western style desserts (yeah ). The chocolate pudding is still flashing back in my mind and gives me energy in that crazy November. Thanks Esther!

Karen’s request: Elegant & Updo

Karen is one of my best friend-clients, May’s, referral.

Karen is very quiet girl, whatever during trial early this year, or on her big day, she didn’t have much ideas on her styling.
Even I asked her that if she prefers simple or fancy hairstyles, I can see question marks in her eyes. In fact, she emphasis two criteria: 1) Elegant 2) Updo styles.

Good shot! Once I got her guidelines, I focus on the elegant and updo hairstyles design.

Some brides may think it won’t have much difference if keep the hairstyles in updo for the whole day.
Nono, I don’t think so.

Actually, for Karen’s case, she has square face shape and thin hair, there’s third criteria when designing hairstyles for her, which is 3) with fringe.

Match with my signature FOM fresh flowers (even some bridesmaids don’t know that they are real flowers till the end of the day!), accessoris and gowns, still can bring out differnt images to guests, but still, elegant and in updo styles.

Until the evening session, found that Karen’s reluctancy of down-style was from her unplesant experience in the pre-wedding photoshooting. Oh… i see!

中文 vs English

即使不太忠實的讀者也會發現，我的blog開始了雙語的文章。

這改變，主要是想照顧看不懂中文的的海外佳麗及外籍客人；
另一邊廂，是因為我懶，打英文比打中文快得～～～～多，尤其時間有限的旺季，又想保持曝光，就會偷雞用英文發文。

當然反應有異，外籍讀者除了圖片外，終於有看得懂的文字；
而本土讀者則表示，好像用中文會較“到肉”，(可能是指我發勞騷的時侯吧…);
魚與熊掌，怎麼選呢？

Less writing time, but more want to tell, let’s have a medley in this post.

In the past week, weddings, pre-wedding photoshootings, trials, teaching;

mother’s birthday celebration and the must watch movie “you are the apple of my eyes”…

“那些年…”全城熱話，即使早場，也要抽時間看！
看得很感動，不是勾起我初戀的回憶，而是那份情懷，深信80/90後無法感受的那份純情，真致又內憸旳情懷。

海邊玩的日子；
宿舍排電話的日子；
等放榜的時侯…

那份幼稚，無聊，白痴，永遠只是在自己中學時代才會找得到的。

無論男女，同學們大都已成家立室有兒有女，
原本畢業後定期的聚會也漸漸減少，
看畢電影後真想找回那些幼稚的同學們來個飯聚，
聖記的同學們，見字請覆。

I’m used to work with packed schedule with insufficient sleep,
but my makeup box… maybe can’t stand the years torture and heavy workload these days, 真的受傷了：
even don’t have time to shop for a new one, all I can do is to tie it up to extend its life.

It has been with me since I start to be a makeup artist, my first and only makeup box, I think it’s time to retire over 10 years. Without you, without me! Want to give you a salute!

Change ≠ Pretty

Seems this October is a month of beauty.
Beautiful brides like Miss HK, even bridesmaids are pretty like models;
can’t image the typhoon last week didn’t bring us rain or storm, we got sunshine with blue sky the whole weekend.

My beautiful bride yesterday, Jacqueline, asked me an unusual question, that I always support:
“Gracy, is it a must to change hairstyle/makeup for each gowns?
I love that hairstyle so much, can I keep it till the end of the day?”

Why not?!
Change less, more photos, more food, more enjoyment with friends, more fun!
That’s why to hold a wedding.
Your guests attend the wedding that they want to celebrate with you, not for you.

We didn’t spend much time in the styles changing, instead, Jacq and Wang took a lot of nice photos with their friends. I witnessed many touching moments. I’m sure Mr & Mrs Tse, their pretty bridesmaids & the naughty ushers, all guests and even myself, all enjoy the night very much.
